Jana has a blog that she has started concerning her trip to Spain.  I have added it to the list of blogs on this site.

The hives came back in to force last night - and are still there today.  They go down my legs, to about my elbows on the arms and all over my torso.  I called the doctor and they prescribed prednisone for me now, so hopefully tomorrow (24 hours) later it will start to improve.  I did hear from the doctor that did the biopsy that the lab results are back and they are sending them to my dermatologist specialist to read and he will be in contact with me tomorrow.  I am expecting he will put me on other pill at that time based on previous conversations with him.  I will post tomorrow as to what the biopsy revealed.

Hi from Pella

Hi everyone,

It was great seeing everyone at Christmas.  So nice everyone could be there and that we could take a family picture!  I thought the pictures turned out great!

We had a great family Christmas at Jana's apartment at Dordt.  Scott, Jana and John were also able to come to Pella for Christmas with Den's family.  We had much better roads coming back to Pella, but Scott and John did not have good roads going back to Luverne.

Jana leaves for Spain two weeks from today, so busy doing lots of wedding and Spain preparations.  Den is gone all week, so we can work from sun up to sun down if we want.  :)

Hives

I went to the dermatologist yesterday and they took a biopsy of my hives.  They are going to send the sample to a lab in Boston and I will hear in 10-14 days as to the results.  The reason they send it all the way to Boston is this lab does nothing but dematology testing.  The cells and general makeup of the hives will give the doctor a better indication of what we are dealing with and if I am having an allergic reaction to something or if they are "ideopathic" (meaning of unknown cause, and that the body is basically attacking itself and causing the hives).

Once they know the types of hives I have they will have a better idea of how to treat them.  They gave me medication to control the itching and to help me sleep at night but as of now the hives are still there but just not as red and swollen.  I have them on the trunk of my body, around the side , the legs and on the arms. 

There are definately worse things in life then being itchy but it sure isn't fun, but am hopeful that will be less and less itchiness going forward as tonight is only 24 hours since I started the medication. 

I can't imagine what I would be allergic to as in the past 5 years the hives have shown up at the condo, while camping, at work. and during every season, so I am assuming they will be classified as ideopathic.
