Hi all,
So Shane and I wanted to update you all on our recent Dr. visits. We still don't know exactly what the plan will be but we talked with a Cardiologist today and he thinks that the changes in Shane's heart from last year to this year are significant and that surgery should be in the near future (he said like within the next month). To try to make a long story short- He has a bicuspid aortic valve-only 2 flaps (most people have a tricuspid aortic valve- 3 flaps) so his aortic valve leaks a "moderate to severe amount" according to the Dr. sis heart has also enlarged some to compensate as has his aorta. So yea he wants us to meet with a cardiac surgeon in the area soon and then if we want a second opinion he recommended Mayo Clinic or possible Iowa City..... Some opinions include 1) a pig or cow heart valve but those are not able to work for more than like 20 years 2) a mechanical valve but then he would have to be on a blood thinner for the rest of his life and get his blood drawn like every month 3) repair his valve- alot harder procedure that might not work and then they would have to replace the valve after a certain number of years..... blah! Anyways we'll keep u all updates. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers!

good news - but rough day
I got a call today from Dr. Hubers and he said that the bone marrow test came back good. NO CANCER! However, he does not know the reason the marrow looks the way it does on the scans so I have a CAT Scan scheduled tomorrow at 2:30 and then will go over the results with him on Wednesday at 10:40 am. He is doing this test to make sure there is no spots or areas of concern on my organs like liver, kidney, etc......
I didn't go into work today as I was shot. I got up and sent my boss an email and then slept till 1:30 this afternoon. I got out of bed and dmade it to the couch and then slept from 3-6pm. I am just finishing a pizza now and will be going back to bed and hopefully be able to go into work tomorrow. I wn't have any more news will after I talk to the doctor on Wednesday about the Cat Scan results.

Merry Christmas to our kids and grandkids
We had a very relaxing day--Vonda went to church with us. Had dinner and the 3 of us laid down for 2and 1/2 hours and napped. Leon ,Sharla and family stopped by at 4:oo and left 5:30 same time vonda left for S F . Then Dad and i played games for a few hours and then fixed a sandwich and now are ready for bed--i know it's early but we have 2 bigs days coming up you know!!!!!! Hope everyone had a good Christmas and see you all tomorrow .Praying for good weather and safe travel.Love Mom/Grandma

Holiday Inn Express
I called the motel [actually she called me] and she asked what time they needed to have our meeting room set up for sat. And i asked if we couldn't put our things in there already on Friday afternoon when we arrived. Oh she said i think that would be o k but let me check.She informrd me it was rented out for all day and evening until 11:00 friday night. She said she was sorry but otherwise we could have done that. So be prepared to not have it when we get there. She said they would try very to have it done by 8:00 am sat. morning. Mom

me again
Not much more to say then what I wrote in the first blog. I slept from about 12:30-3:30 and then again about 5-7pm (or something like that). The pain in manageable jsut very very stiff and sore. I hope to go to work tomorrow as we only work 8-12pm. I know, I know - what a life only working 4 hours. Sitting isn't going real well yet as it gets quite for from the pressure while sitting up. So I sit up for a bit and lay down and then sit up for a bit and lay down... you get the idea. I do hope to make it to work tomorrow through and at least give it a try.
I will definately allow myself extra time to get ready tomorrow as not moving as quickly as I did yesterday. I am just thanksfull the put me out and i didn't have to deal with the pain during the procedure - He said I should have the results by Tuesday of next week.

I am home - procedure went well. Very very sore and not moving will quick but no paid involved during the procedure as the drugged me up :) I will write more later the folks are with me now and will stay till this afternoon for sure. Gotta go lay down, thanks for the prayers

ME
How is that for a title (ME) a blog about no one and nothing else but ME! Ok, anyway as you know I got a call about 11:30 today and they asked if I could be at the Oncologist at 1PM for paperwork and then see the specialist Dr. Huber at 1:15 so of course I said yes.
It was a pretty straightforward meeting. He said I was being referred to him becasue he is a bone and blood cancer specialist and Dr. Eid (my previous specialist) wanted him to look at the results of all the bone scans I had done and he felt I should have a bone marrow biopsy done. Dr. Hubers agreed, he said that normal bone marrow is even and flat and mine shows up on the scans as rough and patchy. (great medical terms huh)
He then proceeded to explain the procedure to me. He said the bone marrow is the soft stuff inside the bone so they will sedate me and then use a needle to go through the bone and aspirate (withdraw) the marrow. Then it will be tested and hopefully we will have some type of answer. They will do the procedure twice and it will be done once on each side of my him.
He was quite upfront about the whole thing and said "you don't show many of the signs of a blood cancer - but if it isn't that then I don't know what it is." So I asked him if this comes back as cancer it would be cancer of the blood or bone marrow correct and not bone cancer and he said yes. I asked if it is that why wouldn't it have shown up in the 18 blood tests i had done and he stated most blood cancers will not show up in a blood test. (Ok, that doesn't make sense to me but that is what he said)
He asked alot about the breast biopsies I have had done over the years and the fact I was diagnosed with Cowdens Syndrome years ago (this was when they removed the polyps from my colon) I assured him they were always tested and none were cancer.
I asked if the bone marrow test came back good what is the course of action then - and he was quite honest and said he would have me have a mammorgram to make sure no issues there and then order a CAT scan to get another scan of the bones and they would keep a very close eye on things.
He ended with saying "I know you want answers --- but yet you don't" I told him he was pretty correct on that and he ended again by asking about if i had pain, night sweats, fever, chills etc.... I answered all thosee questions and he said "well, you certainly don't present with signs of it being cancer but if it isn't I don't know at this point what we are dealing with.
There ya hae it folks - you now know as much about it as I do which is NOTHING!

The folks are on their way to SF tonight to stay here and I ahve to be at the hospital at 6:30 and sign it, get checked in, get my IV etc... she said the bone marrow biopsy will not start before 8am.

Vonda has seen the Oncology doctor at one today and she will have a bone marrow biopsy done tomorrow morning at 8:00 a m.They will do one on each hip--she will be sudated. She has to be at the Hospital at 6:30. It will be a week before she hears the results. She will email on the blog tonight .Love mom

So I've been studying for exams all day and decided to reward myself with a break of getting in the internet and looking at the blog. Merry Christmas
I [mom or grandma as some call me] am ending a tradition that i started in 1983 by sending out a Christmas letter each year. However, to replace that i will send a note on the family blog.
To our children and grandchildren --grandpa and i would like to say ''thank you" for all the love, prayers and concern you have shown to us in this past year.Thanks for the Christmas cards and pictures and also keeping us informed all year through the emails and pictures on the blog. We so appreciate that!!What would we do without family--or computer!!! We are so blest!! God has been so good---even in the not so good times over the years---He is always there for us.There are times we must be reminded we need to submit to His will ---it's not always the way we want it but we must pray "Thy will be done."
Last but not least we thank God for the many blessings He has given us over the years.And one of the many is ---we thank Him for our christian family.God over the years has been working in our children's lives and now in our grandchildren and soon our to be great-grandchildren lives. We thank Him for giving us 4 wonderful God fearing in-laws. We as parents tryed to set an example in our daily walk in life and with Gods help and many many prayers we can see our children and our children's children following in the ways of the Lord.What a blessing!!!

a walk down memory lane...
Considering the weather outside tonight (YIKES - it is cold out) I thought this picture is appropriate.
My only news here is that Aunt Hillbilly is back. For those of you who don't know about that - that is the name Jeremy called me a few years ago when i had to have some of my front teeth pulled. Anyway, I lost a bottom tooth last night. The tooth is gone to the gum line but doesn't bother me so I a mnot going in to the dentist. Plus, you really can't notice it so I will at least get to next year before I do anything with it since I haven't used any of my dental deductable at this time.
I have my dexa scan tomorrow at 10:15 am. So I am sure will be at least another week to ten days before I hear on that. Otherwise, it is pretty much life as normal. Eat, sleep and work.
As I hope everyone else is, I am looking forward to seeing everyone (especially Mark) at the hotel! Come on Jana, you didn't think you'd get by without me giving you a "little" bit of grief did you? Don't worry, I will be nice - it was mostly Jody and Danielle that always gave me grief about my love life.

fun times!
Good morning everyone,
Yesterday was such a fun day. We had 13 girls at our house all afternoon getting their hair and nails done for the Christmas Banquet at night. Every bathroom was full and every plug in being utilized! Even blew a fuse at one point! Then it was time for some of the mom's to show up to take pictures and then the boy friends came to pick up the girls, so we had a house full. What a special memory.....I think it was just as much fun for Den and I as it was for the girls! We will miss all this activity next year. Eleven years of high schooler's, with kids coming and going all the time....it will be different. :( We will miss it that's for sure! Anyway....then last night we had 5 couples after the banquet who ate and played games and then later had 12 girls stay over night. You should see our house......bodies, bags, purses, shoes, dresses, make up, hair dryers, curling irons all over the whole house! :) As a senior mom I got to help serve at the banquet and watch the program so that was a lot of fun too!
Well....we're going to need a LOT of showers and hot water for all these girls to get ready for church this morning, so I think I better get my shower finished before they need it.
Counting down the days till Christmas!!!! Can't wait to see you all!

Oh boy, how and where to do I begin?
Well, went to the specialist today to talk to him about the Pagets Disease and was in for a bit of a surprise becasue he said "I am 99.8% sure you DO NOT have Pagets Disease!"
He then spent the next 2 hours talking with me and going over everything I have ever had done since I was born, (the back brace, the foot surgeries, colon surgeries, breast biopsies, moles removed, thyroid removed, the cancer etc....) He jotted everything down and asked a million and one questions about it all.
While doing all this and answering his questions he asked me if it was normal for my right eye to be staring off like that? I said no, but said I noticed this morning it was a "bit off" (my eye, not me...... come on tell me you at least laughed at that, I am trying to make this at least entertaining to read) anyway, so then he proceeded to ask if any family, friends, coworkers etc.. have ever said anything about it and i again said no they had not mentioned anything about the eye.
So then it was back to answering more questions....
So at this point he proceeded with the exam and at one point took out a needle and stuck it on my forhead and asked if i could feel that and I said "yes" at this point he used the same needle and started prcking at my feet and legs and I had to tell him when i felt it. Afterwhich he informed me i have very poor feeling in my legs and feet. I told him, it has always been that way with my left food do to the surgeries but have never noticed an issue with my right foot and leg. (but how often do you have someone stick you with a needle and go "can you fell that")
I talked to him about the hives and the vomitting i have had in the past and he again wrote that all down and asked numerous questions. My blood pressure was also high when they took it which I told him was unusual. I am normally right at 120/80.
I also asked him about increasing my thyroid medication because i have been so tired lately. I explain to him that i go to the car and lay down during my breaks and sleep during my lunch break. I said that the doctors keep lowering my thyroid medication but I disagree becasue i jsut get more and more tired.
He assured me not to worry and we would get to the bottom of all of this. He said" you have had a rough bunch of months" and wanted to remind me that this won't be taken care of overnight but that he would get to the bottom of it. He has 3-4 ideas of what it could be but reminded me again it needs to be taken care of one step at a time and treatment will depend on one the future tests hold.
He has me scheduled for a Dexa scan this coming Monday. He also did a ton and I do mean a ton of blood work today. After I l;eft his office and went to the lab I counted that he has 18 blood tests scheduled. I jokingly said to the lab tech "hopefully, it isn't one vial of blood for each test" to which she responded "nope, it will only be 13 vials of blood!" That is no joke, they took 13 vials of blood. All I could do was laugh, I couldn't believe it.
So after this you are probably all wondering my thoughts on this, and it is that I really like this guy and the time he took to try and figure this out. So I feel like I am finally on a path to getting some answers. Like we all wondered, he said alot of these things could all be caused by the same problem or I might even have 2 different things going on be he was confident he could get to the bottom of it and like I said he even had some ideas of what could be casueing this.
He aslso requested that I send a signed waiver of release to Brookings Hospital, Sioux Valley Hospital, and Luverne HOspital so I could have all my medical records sent to him. He was mainly concerned/curious about the bipsies or surgeries where they have removed something from me (thyroid surgery, breast biopsies, colon surgeries,) He said reading up on those could help with his diagnoses.
He talked to me about the different things it could be but I will give you the one that I understand the best and are easiest to explain.
1) He thought it could be an issue with the adrenal gland because that would expalin some of the symptoms I have and it would "throw off" the thyroid blood work which would explain why the doctors want to lower the medication when I don't want them too.
So like I said, that is just one of the possabilities. I will keep you all informed as I find out more information but I am sure I/we are in for a long wait with all that blood work to be tested and evaluated plus another test on Monday. So you add that with the holidays coming up, I have just set my mind at "I'll find something out in Jan." I don't really think it will take that long but who knows if he has time off for vacation et...

Christmas time!
Hi everyone! We're getting VERY excited to see you all at the motel!! Can't wait!! (and to have a few days off work will be amazing too :) We're been trying to decorate our house so here are a few pics :)

Hi everyone,
We have ice with about 2-3 inches of snow on top of it. Jana was supposed to have a home game tonight vs. Knoxville and I was scheduled for the team meal. The storm is past so I just sent an e-mail the the Athletic Director to see if the game is still on or not. If the team we were to play was far away it might be canceled but since Knoxville is so close and the storm is over, I don't know if they'll still play it or not. I hope they let me know soon, so I know whether to start preparing all this food or not.
Saturday night is PC's Christmas Banquet so as a senior Mom I get to help serve and then afterwards we're having 5 couples including Jana and Mark over for food and games and then later the guys will leave and then Jana's having a bunch of girls over night. Should be a lot of fun!
I am so looking forward to having everyone one here for Christmas and then coming on to Worthington after that. It will be so much fun!!! Praying already for good weather for that time peirod as lots of people will be on the roads.

We have ice with about 2-3 inches of snow on top of it. Jana was supposed to have a home game tonight vs. Knoxville and I was scheduled for the team meal. The storm is past so I just sent an e-mail the the Athletic Director to see if the game is still on or not. If the team we were to play was far away it might be canceled but since Knoxville is so close and the storm is over, I don't know if they'll still play it or not. I hope they let me know soon, so I know whether to start preparing all this food or not.
Saturday night is PC's Christmas Banquet so as a senior Mom I get to help serve and then afterwards we're having 5 couples including Jana and Mark over for food and games and then later the guys will leave and then Jana's having a bunch of girls over night. Should be a lot of fun!
I am so looking forward to having everyone one here for Christmas and then coming on to Worthington after that. It will be so much fun!!! Praying already for good weather for that time peirod as lots of people will be on the roads.

For those who haven't read it yet you should check out the Triplets blog today. It is funny! It is all about their meal time "mess".
Does anyone out there reading this have a guess on Tony and Danielle's baby? I think it is going to be a girl!
Nothing else new here - hope you enjoyed the picture. Don't worry nephew and nieces - I took a bunch of pictures "of pictures" of your parents when they were kids. I also got some of Grandpa and Grandma younger years also. So those will be coming later and this way I don't only pick on the yuonger generation.

Jody - this picture is for you!
Dad/Grandpa - will be calling the doctor next week as he is having an issue with his shoulder.
Occasionally, his wound would break up and puss a little bit and then all would be good again. The last time he was in to the doctor, (I don't know something like 6 months ago) the doctor thought he felt something in there but had no way of knowing what it was. He left it up to Dad if they should open it up or not. Dad felt with his issues of Staph infection it was best not to do anything if it didn't bother him
However, it broke open again and this time you can see a "stitch" or something of that sort in the wound. If you look closely at the picture you will see it is a "loop". It is unable to be pulled out and it just sticks out of the wound. So they will be making a call to the doctor again this week to see what has to be done.

Thanksgiving!
Hi All,
I hope you had a blessed and wonderful Thanksgiving! Ours was wonderful! We are in Bemidji, MN (7 hours north of Orange City), visiting Jess' brother and his wife and their new baby girl. We were excited to see her (Rhianna) for the first time because she is a month old and we hadn't seen her yet! Here are a few pictures we took yesterday!
Other than that, there is not much going on. Jess is hunting today and Becca (sister-in-law) are going to go shopping later. We will be on our way back on Sunday, so we have a couple days of relaxation and time with our niece left!

I have a diagnoses
I got a call from the doctor today and said that she along with another doctor reviewed the results of my MRI and there were abnormalities on it. The results along with the previous testing leads them to believe that I do in fact have Pagets Disease. I have taken paragraphs from various articles and placed them on the blog as they can explain it better then I do. My doctor has me scheduled to see a Endocrinologist (specialist) on December 9th. She wants him to verify her diagnoses and this way I have see a specialist if anything would progress.

basketball season is a go!

not much is going on here in chandler id just like to say i start basketball on tuesday! its my first game and im playing JV so im a little nervous :S. i hope i do ok lol. i think travis starts a week later or something like that. i hear jana had her first game... i hope that went well and you started your season well.
its pretty boring around the house so my dad is eager to get going again with sports. he can't wait till my first game to get out of the house! well i hope all is well... see you ALL at the hotel over christmas!
p.s crazy thinking christmas is on the way already!! & danielle hope your happy i wrote something! your turn =D haha

Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!
We had our family Thanksgiving the weekend that Shane, Jody and Scott were home for the State volleyball tournament. It was great having them here that weekend. Kind of hard to think that Jana's HS volleyball years are finished. She's received some very nice All-State honors again this year.
Jana had her first basketball game last night. Hard to get used to going from the short,
tight shorts in volleyball to the long, loose shorts in basketball. :) I think they'll have a pretty good team this year, but they are a little rusty right now as 6 of the 10 girls on the team played volleyball, so they are a little out of practice and out of shape.
Scott plans to come home for Thanksgiving, so that will be nice. Jody and Shane will be staying in Milwaukee as Jody works Thanksgiving Day.
We are so looking forward to the VW Christmas at the hotel!!! You guys will need to ask Jana if she's taking anyone along this year. :)

Fireproof
Hi All,
I meant to post this last weekend, but I have been a little busy as the semester is coming to a close (and very quickly!), so it got pushed back on the "to do" list.
Last week Saturday, Jess and I went with another couple to the movie "Fireproof." For those of you who haven't heard of it (which would be surprising because it has been all over KNWC), it is a Christian film about "fireproofing" your marriage. It is a really awesome story (about a fireman and his wife who are on the brink of divorce, and how they eventually come to Christ) and has an even more amazing message! In the first few minutes of the movie we were a little bit unsure because the acting was not the best (not bad, just not what we are used to seeing in a theatre), but you get pulled into the story very quickly! We would recommend it to everyone because it is quite powerful (and the overall message can be applied to more than just marriage). I don't know if any of you have seen it, but if you haven't you definitely should (and if you have, I would love to hear what you think of the film).

Not a happy camper!
My hives are back with a vengance! They are worse then I ever had them before. I started itching while running errands tonight after work. I ended up leaving Target without even finishing my shopping becasue I itched so bad. I have it all down my legs and arms. I started myself on the prescription I was on before and I called the doctor and was told what else to take to help alleviate this. Usually i get relief on this medication within 12 hours so I have 3 hours down - 9 hours to go. I am going to take a sleeping pill tonight and try to sleep through this. Just thought i would keep you all in the loop. I don't have enough hands to itch, itch, itch every place that needs to be itched. Vonda AAAGUUGHGHGH I HATE ITCHING~

Grandpa and i plan to leave tomorrow[thursday]morning around 9:00 for Ceder Rapids. Arla has a motel reserved for us. Sounds like fun!!!! If they loose thursday evening we will return home Friday --if they win friday evening --wonderful then we will stay until sat. and if they win that one game at 3:00 we will return home either sat. night yet or sunday afternoon. PHONE CALL FROM THE DOCTOR
I received a phone call from the doctor today and to the best of my understanding here is what is going on with me.
The skull xray is normal but the bone scan showed increased uptake in the skull and lumbar (low back) region. I understand that to mean they were at higher levels in those areas. Due to the fact my skull exay was normal this decreases (but does not eminate) a bony disease of the skull. At this point, they were trying to diagnose/or eminate Pagets Disease. Due to the normal skull xray they do not feel I have that at this time.
She asked if I was having any back pain - and I stated "well, pain I associate with my surgeries - but i can say I have been going to the chiropractor more lately due to back aches" She asked in what area and I said the lower back. So I will be having an MRI done on Tuesday to investigate that further (at this point I figure might as well not leave any stone uncovered and I'd like to get most of this in under this years insurance.)
I asked her what they would be looking for in the MRI and she said a tumore or growth.
She went on to explain that aceate phosphates are found in the skin, liver and bone. (weird combination of you ask me) Anyway, this all started when they found increased levels in my liver. Well, that now appears normal but the bone phosphates are way to high. So she is recommending to rerun all that blood work the end of December and see if the levels are normal at that time, stayed the same, or increased. I asked if the MRI came back normal but the levels were still out of wack in December then what does that mean. She said we would have to continue with testing to see what is causing it.
Afterwork, I stopped by the doctor and picked up a copy of the letter she sent me plus 5 pages of the test resuls that were sent to her from other doctors who read my xrays and scans. I then faxed them to a friend of mine who is a retired radiologist in Denver. He is going to review them and get back to me with his thoughts/ideas/recommendations. I have no complaints with my doctor and feel she is covering all the bases but another opinion never hurts.

Schools around here were all 2 hours late and then a little later they announced they are all closed for the day. there is no ice on the trees but the roads are solid ice.We heard on the scanner that there are cars in the ditches on 91 75 and highway 30.The plow can't even make it up the hill here south of Chandler to sand so there are a number of cars and trucks waiting to get up the hill.wow we went from summer to winter in a hurry.talk to u later love grandma

ears!
I just read Shelly's blog about the triplets and all their ear infections and thought I'd add our own "ear" story over here. We took Jana in foran ear infection Sunday afternoon. They got her on an antibiotic and and nurse Jody recommended Ibuprofen which helped immensely for the pain. Hopefully we caught it early and she can be 100% by Thursday night. She's been going to bed early, so hopefully that helps too.

Happy to know you remembered the last picture I put on and can laugh about it now. It was a fun day though.
I got a call from the nurse today and she read me a letter that the doctor typed up to send me. It was alot of information to take in but from the sounds of everything the tests were either normal or "stayed the same." I am to have all the blood tests rerun next month. The doctor is going to call me so we can discuss what is goign on as I told the nurse I waned to talk to the doctor. I have all these tests ordered etc.. but I don't even know what she is testing for. The doctor did try to call me today but i was unable to get to the phone call in time. Hopefully, we will be able to touch base tomorrow. The nurse did say they will probably be scheduling an MRI of my spine. For those of you who are confused with all these tests we are following up on the reasons the liver and bone levels were so high. It seems we have taken care of the throwing up issue (with medication) and the spots (hives) haven't been around for some time. So now we just got to get to the botton of the liver/bone issue?????? On to State!
We won in 3! I think the scores were like 25-17, 25-28 and 25-22.
They were a very good defensive team....very scrappy!
Now it's on to State! We play next Thursday at 6:00pm in Cedar Rapids against the number 3 seeded team, IK Manning. We are seeded as 6th. They have one very tall girl. We have played them a lot in AAU tournaments over the years. They are very good. We usually battle close with them and it seems like we win some and they win some.....so we'll see. :) If we win we most likely play Dike New Hartford (seeded 2nd) on Friday night at 6:00pm. Then if we would win that, we'd play Saturday afternoon at 3:00 most likely against Western (seeded 1st). So we have a tough road, having to play the 3rd, 2nd and 1st seeded teams to win it all! :)
We had a nice celebration after the game tonight, so that was a lot of fun.
It will be a busy week trying to plan team meals, making signs to put on the town square and along the roads, decorating lockers, decorating cars, decorating the bus, making the traditional gift bags to put on the bus, etc. Since Jana is the captain, I get the honor of coordinating all of the above activities. I've kept a "to do" list from when Jody and Scott qualified for State over the years, so that helps. Actually it's a lot of fun stuff and I'm glad I get the chance to do it!
Well...it's 1:00am so I think I'll see if I can get to sleep now. :)

Then if we would win that, we'd play Saturday afternoon at 3:00 most likely against Western (seeded 1st). So we have a tough road, having to play the 3rd, 2nd and 1st seeded teams to win it all! :)
We had a nice celebration after the game tonight, so that was a lot of fun.
It will be a busy week trying to plan team meals, making signs to put on the town square and along the roads, decorating lockers, decorating cars, decorating the bus, making the traditional gift bags to put on the bus, etc. Since Jana is the captain, I get the honor of coordinating all of the above activities. I've kept a "to do" list from when Jody and Scott qualified for State over the years, so that helps. Actually it's a lot of fun stuff and I'm glad I get the chance to do it!
Well...it's 1:00am so I think I'll see if I can get to sleep now. :)

still no news
The nurse called me today and said that the doctor has been gone but she will be sending me a letter with my test results. She said that if it was anything serious they would have called but I am suppose to call them if I haven't received the letter by Friday.

Jason
I thought you might be interested in part of an article that was in the Chandler Grade School paper.
On Friday, Sept. 26, the boys soccer team played Leota Christian at Lost Timber Bible Camp. It was close during the final two quarters. Cougars were playing well and had the game tied. Jason Vander Woude scored off of a fast break and blasted it into the back of the net scoring the first goal for CCS....
We played Edgerton Christian on Monday, Sept. 29 in an exciting ggame. In the first half no one scored and it was very even. Then in the second half, with about 15 mintues left, Edgerton scored the first goal makeing the score one to zero. Then, with 10 minutes left Jason Vander Woude carried the ball up the field. That as the last of the defenders went from Eric to Jason, Jason sent a perfect pass to Eric. The goalie charged Ericand with the good pass from Jason , Erick flicked it over the goalie to score.....
I know the news is old but still thought you would like to know. I get the paper from the folks so just got to reading it now.

My mom just told me about your game the other night. Sounded like a real heart breaker.Those close ones are always so hard to take.I'm really sorry. I'm sure right now it's hard to sleep and you keep replaying everything. But from what I've heard it sounds like you had an AMAZING season. Sounds very impressive for your first year. On a different note: I am still bummed about the SWC volleyball game last night. When my dad called to say they lost, I did not believe him at first! Unfortunately, the better team does not always win (which I think is the case this time, although I may be biased). I would just like to congratulate my Mom on an amazing first season as head coach. Not only did the team have a successful season (Conference champs, Unity Tourney champs, Pipestone tourney champs in which they beat Pipestone (AA) and a AAA school from the Cities area), but I know from talking with the girls and from my mom that they all had A LOT of fun and really grew as people and friends. I could see a difference in the girls' attitudes from last year to this year, and I know they all really loved and respected my mom as a coach. No doubt everyone is quite disappointed (Mom especially), but I am still very proud of her and her team! Love you Mom!
Hope all is well with everyone (and now, I guess, we can look forward to basketball season!).

A Van Dyke baby!!
Hi All,
No, this post is not to let you all know that Jess and I are expecting (sorry, if I got anyone's hopes up). I just wanted to share our exciting news! Jess' brother, Seth, and his wife, Becca, had their first child today! A little girl named Rhianna Michelle! She is healthy and Becca is doing really well, so we are very excited about all the good news! I just have to say that I am a very proud aunt and Jess could not be happier to be an uncle. That is about all from here. If we get pictures of Rhianna, I will maybe put them on the blog.

Hi everyon,
wow that is not the most attractive picture of me. i think my friends found that one last year and put it up on the screen at school during chapel. so im glad that vonda decided to put that up on the blog too.:) i wanted to tell leon and sharla thanks soo much for the cookie cake at my tournament. and i really appreciate it that vonda, darci, and grandma could come to my tournament. it was really nice to see you guys. thanks for all the e-mails about volleyball too. it's really nice to know everyone is interested in how the season is going. we have three more games to state so it should be a fun couple of weeks. tuesday night is our next game at home against eddyville. shouldn't be too hard, but we'll see. hope everyone is having a relaxing sunday.miss you all. love, jana
