Eventful Day...

Thank you all for your prayers yesterday! We had an unexpected day and I wanted to give you all an update this morning.

I had a pretty busy week- I worked on Monday and Tuesday, then Wednesday we both had the day off (Shane starts his new job on Monday) so we toured a couple day care centers, had a Dr. appointment that went great :) and then went to the Brewer Game at 1pm. Its been really hot but with all my activity I've been trying to drink alot of water to stay hydrated and all that...

Anyways- I was working yesterday and actually having a pretty decent day but then started to feel contractions pretty regularly. I tried resting (I sat in a patients room in their recliner :), drinking lots of water, and all that but the contractions kept happening. I've had sporadic contractions before- mostly when I'm at work- but they always stop when I sit down and they had never been that frequent before. So I started to get worried- I've only 32 and 1/2 weeks and the baby is probably only about 4lbs right now.... I called my Dr. and talked to my charge nurse and they both thought I should go to triage to get monitored. So I gave report on my patients and went up there.

I was really hoping that I was wrong and maybe I was just feeling alot of movement and not real contractions.... but I was having a contractions right when they hooked me up and they could see it on the monitor so they monitored the babys heartrate and the contractions for a while, ran some tests, gave me a TON of IV fluids, checked me to see if I was dilated- THANKGOODNESS I wasn't at all so that was really encouraging- and then ran a test called the Fetal fibronectin test. I tested negative- yeah!! theres some info below.

The fFN test can help predict which symptomatic women have a reduced risk of premature labor and delivery. Fewer than 5 percent of women with symptoms of preterm labor who have a negative fFN test result deliver within the next 2 weeks.

The contractions were still happening but a little less frequent and so with this negative test they said that I could go home last night. They also said that I was a little dehydrated so that could have contributed to the contractions as well as all the activity/work. I've supposed to just rest this weekend and drink lots of water and then see the Dr. on Monday to see how the weekend is and discuss work and all that.

Last night the contractions basically stopped and this morning I've only had a few so very encouraging :)

Thank you again for all your prayers!! We are praying for a healthy full-term baby around Sept. 26 :)

And Danielle- we're still planning on you guys staying here on Monday night- probably won't be the cleanest house but you are very welcome!! My Dr. appt is at 2:30 so I should be home by like 3:30 so you can come anytime after that.

Heres a 32 week pic before all this craziness started....
