For those of you who don't know her birth story, here is a recap:
At my last pre-birth appointment, my doctor recommended that I be induced on Tuesday, Sept. 24, which was three days past my due date. I was getting quite uncomfortable and he assured me that my risk of C-section following induction was low, so I agreed.
We went to the hospital at 7am Tuesday morning, they started the Pitocin at 11am (after a few hours of antibiotics), broke my water at 12:30pm, and contractions started immediately (thank goodness for an epidural!). At about 8:50pm, I started pushing and she was born at 11:45pm. She was 7lbs 13.8oz, 20.5in long.
We went home Thursday afternoon. At her check-up on Friday, she showed some jaundice, so we spent the weekend at home because she had to be hooked up to home light-therapy 24/7. She handled it like a champ! It was great having my parents here for the weekend because otherwise we may have gone crazy being cooped up inside all the time (and they got in plenty of cuddle time). On Monday, her labs were improved, so we are off the light.
Throughout the pregnancy, I had an ever growing feeling that the baby was going to be a boy. I guess my intuition is a little off! :) We could not be happier with our little one. She is so precious!
Proud daddy! I must say that I have the most amazing husband. He was such an encourager throughout the labor and the three hours of pushing, and he is absolutely in love with his daughter.
Ready to head home!
Grandpa and Grandma
Bionic baby! The light-therapy was a wrap that had to stay wrapped around her stomach. We had some fun turning off all the lights and watching our little "glow bug".
Watching football with daddy. I must say that I think she is the Viking's good-luck charm because after she was born they finally won!
Her eyes are a gray color right now, so I guess she could end up with blue or brown eyes. I think they will probably end up being brown (but, as evidenced before, my intuition is a little off...).
Her hair is pretty adorable. It sticks straight up like she is touching a static globe.
Major is pretty curious about her. He is often sniffing her, and any time she makes any noise he is by her and looks very concerned. I think he will be quite protective, and she isn't bothered by him at all. He also wants to be right by us when we are cuddling with her, which makes me think he is a little jealous (do dogs get jealous?).
Can't wait for you all to meet her. We plan on being in Minnesota for Thanksgiving, so hopefully most of you will be able to meet her then.
Love you all!
Darci
