Hi everyone,
for those of you who don't know I fell on Thanksgiving day and injured my right ankle. I thought I had sprained it really bad so I went on crutches and stayed off of it the best I could. it was really swollen but didn't really cause me much pain. Yesterday the swelling started to go down although it is still obviously swollen and this was the first time I could tell there was one area of the ankle that caused great tenderness to touch. Today showed no improvement from yesterday so I felt I should go in and have it checked. I was walking at work due to I did not want to take the crutches out in the ice and snow and have no pain in the ankle. Anyway as you can tell by the title of this post I went into the doctor today and he felt it, talk to me about it, examined it, and did range of motion exercises and told me he thought it was a really bad sprain but wanted x-rays just to make sure. I had x-rays taken and then met with the doctor again and he walks into the room and shakes his head and said you broke your ankle. So I am in a walking boot for the next two weeks and I'm only able to take it off if I shower or ice the ankle otherwise he wants me in it at all times. he does think that the ankle can heal this way but wants me to go back and see the doctor in two weeks and be reevaluated. if the ankle does not heel in that time I will require surgery. The bad part about all this is it's my good ankle and on my good leg. My previous knee surgery, 4 foot surgeries, fractures and sprained ankles have ALWAYS been on my left leg, ankle or foot. I don't have feeling in most of my left foot due to all the surgeries so walking right now is kind of comical. I'm choosing to find the humor in the situation.
Love ya all, Vonda
